Body Beyond Birth is an online Pilates exercise program, developed in Australia by Physiotherapist and certified Pilates instructor Becky Dyer and certified Pilates instructor Jackie Steele. Body Beyond Birth has now grown into an international internet platform providing a Pilates-based program lasting up to 12 weeks.

There are four exercise programs available which are catered to differing needs and fitness levels. The pregnancy program provides exercises targeted specifically for expecting mothers, offering 12 exercise lessons, a nutrition plan, expert advice and connections with an online community of mothers.

The program costs $139 as a single payment or can be paid in three installments at $49.99 each. You will have access to the package for 26 weeks. Other programs offered by the platform are targeted specifically for postnatal mothers. These programs provide 12 weeks of training, costing $165 as one payment, or three installments of $65. The programs are categorized by level. Each Level caters to differing abilities and main goals. Level one is designed for women who are starting out with the aim of getting fitter, healthier, and to relieve any postnatal difficulties such as back pain or untreated abdominal separation. Level two is designed for individuals with some experience of Pilates and can also help alleviate any postnatal difficulties. Level three is designed for women who regularly exercise but may be finding it difficult to fit in workouts around a family. Body Beyond Birth offers a seven-day free trial for each program, enabling you to experience the program and see if it is right for you before you make any financial commitments.

The platform provides classes, exercises, and information which are targeted mainly for pregnant and postnatal women. If you do not fit into this category then it is unlikely that you will receive the best benefits from using the platform.

The classes are all online to be completed at home and thus the platform removes the social element that would come with attending a local yoga, pilates classes etc.

    Although the platform provides different packages to cater for different fitness levels, once you have signed up to a specific package, to get your money’s worth, you have to complete the programs associated workouts. If you experience an injury during this time you may be unable to complete the exercises available.

  3. Pilates and Yoga focused exercises:

    The exercise classes which are offered are Pilates and Yoga programs. If you are looking for more variety in the exercises offered, then this is not the platform for you.

  4. Personal Training is Extra:

    As all classes are streamed online, there is no one in the room to check you with your form. If you would like to have your form checked you would have to pay extra for a personal trainer.

  5. Working Out at Home:

    Working out at home can bring many benefits, but there are negatives associated with it. Working out at home removes the social element that can come with attending a gym or a Pilates class. It also does not remove yourself from an environment that could remind you of all the awaiting jobs, and thus not provide you with the much needed clear head post workout.
