Why It’s Not for You

Individuals most likely to need a gym include those who have had injuries in the past or need to go to a place that has specific exercise machines or weights. Even with a home gym, Jillian’s workout program utilizes a variety of weights, bands, blocks, mats, and weighted bars.

$20/monthly can add up, especially if you have a busy schedule. It can also be hard to keep up the program if you need a gym.

Five Pros:
  1. As little as 20 minutes a day:

Jillian’s customization program sets up a weekly exercise for you, most of them lasting only 20 minutes, though that will vary depending on the needs you have.

  2. Accessibility:

The membership benefits such as videos, nutrition guides, and newsletters, along with the website, can be accessed from any device, including mobile devices using the Jillian Michaels’ app.

  3. Money Saver:

Gym memberships are often more expensive than we like. This price for membership pays for a personal coach of Jillian’s status, who can personalize options depending on your goals. With membership, there is also a discount on ordering products so you can buy her books, DVDs, and gym equipment for a lower price.

  4. Support:

In making any change, especially if exercising is a bigger change for you, support is helpful and statistically proves to be more successful. The community support from Jillian Michael’s platform is highly recommended by its users.

  5. Credibility:

There are not a lot of names in fitness higher than Jillian Michaels. With her expertise, you can trust what she has to say about where you’re at in meeting your fitness goals.

Five Cons:
  1. A Certain Amount of Discipline is Required:

Membership requires discipline on the part of the member, just like every gym. Jillian’s subscribers and members will get their daily subscription email, but there is no tracker to make sure the member is keeping up with their assigned programs.

  2. You Still Might Need a Gym:

Because of the nature of exercise, you might still need a gym where you can go do a workout, especially if you need machines or weights and do not have a gym or machine at home.

  3. Injuries or Physical Decline can Hamper Progress:

TIf you have medical conditions, it will be hard to start on a level where you will be able to lose weight quickly. Building up muscle and stamina when you have not worked out in a long time, or lead a sedentary lifestyle.

  4. Weekly Payment:

The weekly membership payment is $4 for access into the videos, which can add up pretty quickly, especially if you don’t have the time to really dedicate yourself to working out.

  5. Variety Can Kill:

The exercises Jillian recommends, even from her free week of gym membership, have a lot of variety to target certain areas. While exercise can be intimidating, some of the less common workouts she walks you through can still be hard without a trainer or spotter to make sure you are doing the move correctly.

Overall, I really enjoyed this at home workout videos. It is easy, convenient and within a week, I could see improvement in my strength and endurance. Her videos are short and they truly target all of the major muscle groups in order to see results. True to it’s name, I did lose weight using this program and saw an overall difference in my muscle, tone and strength. While it is hard to stick and maintain an exercise routine, there is no excuse with a workout at home with Jillian Michaels.
